My favourite game! I don’t remember playing anything like it beforehand, growing up as many of us did in Europe with a Mega Drive. I think FFVII introduced a lot of European gamers to JRPGs. I’m not sure the Materia system has ever been bettered. I loved the Gold Saucer – was always chuffed that I managed to complete the basketball mini-game! And the music!!! (Always found it funny that the CD soundtrack covers more discs than the game itself.)
